What is family residence permit and who may apply?

Family residence permit is a type of residence permits for the relatives listed in the law of the foreigners who have a residence permit in Turkey in order to ensure family unit.

The foreign spouse of the sponsor or the foreign child of the sponsor or the foreign spouse may apply for family residence permit.

• Foreign spouse

• Minor child of the foreigner

• Dependent foreign children or dependent foreign children of their spouse

The permit is issued not to exceed 3 years at a time.

You will be given an appointment after you have applied for family residence permit for the first time. On the appointment day, you must go to your appointment at the Directorate General of Migration Management with a passport or a passport substitute document, preparing required documents in full.

Foreigners holding a family residence permit should be covered with a valid medical insurance.

Who can be a sponsor?

A sponsor is a person who covers the expenses of the foreigner who comes to Turkey in order to ensure family unity and who is a Turkish citizen or has a legal residence permit.

Turkish citizens, blue card holders, foreigners holding any residence permit may be a sponsor.

What are the requirements of a sponsor?

• The total income not less than minimum wage

• Ensuring the family's accommodation in accordance with the general health and safety rules

• A valid health insurance covering all family members

• Not being convicted of any crime against family during the five years

• Residing in Turkey for at least one year on a residence permit

• Registration with the address based registration system
