Who May Apply For Student Residence Permit?
Foreign students who will be studying at a higher education institution in Turkey and who will receive primary and secondary education without a family residence permit may obtain residence permit.
Student residence permit may be issued for the period of study to the foreigners who shall receive education in Turkey through state institutions and organizations (Associate, undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate programme).
Student resident permit is issued for the foreigner who will receive primary and secondary education from the date of study until the beginning of the next academic year.
The student residence permit does not grant any right to the family members of the student to obtain a residence permit. They may apply for other residence permits, if they meet the conditions.
Foreign student can work by obtaining work permit. However, the right to work for associate and undergraduate students begins after the first year and cannot be more than twenty-four hours per week.
In addition, there should not be any barriers for you to enter Turkey.
How to Apply for Student Residence Permit?
As with other types of residence permits, applications for student residence permits are made to the Directorate General of Migration Management through e-ikamet.
You will be given an appointment after you have applied for a residence permit for the first time. On the appointment day, you must go to your appointment at the Directorate General of Migration Management with a passport or a passport substitute document, preparing required documents in full.
Persons who will receive a residence permit must have a valid health insurance within 3 months.
